Download Digital Books
OverDrive currently hosts more than 650,000 premium digital titles from more than 1,000 publishers, including Random House, HarperCollins, BBC Audiobooks America, Harlequin, and Bloomsbury.

Log in with your Westborough library card, and download digital materials to your computer.  With Adobe Digital Editions software, you can transfer content to most popular handheld devices.  Check the Overdrive website to view a list of compatible devices.  Overdrive also provides apps for mobile devices.

Like library books, almost all Overdrive books and audios can only be checked out to one person at a time; if an item is checked out, you may reserve it with your library card and download it when it becomes available. Checkout period is 14 days.

Get started by visiting Overdrive's  help section for information and instructions for specific devices.

The Commonwealth eBook Collections program is brought to you by the Massachusetts Library System in partnership with the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and participating libraries and is funded, in part, by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services.  It includes Axis 360 and Biblioboard.  Log in with your library card.  Download the Axis 360 and Biblioboard apps to use on your handheld devices.

Axis 360: Fiction and nonfiction bestsellers in ebook and audiobook.  Books can be checked out for 2 weeks.  There is a 3 book limit per user.

Biblioboard: Collections of primary sources, historical documents, images.

Freading provides access to tens of thousands of books, none of which require users to wait in line to download.  Freading books are always available; they come from smaller or independent publishing companies.

Registered library card holders living in Westborough can access Freading and download a number of free books each week.  Library users receive 5 free “virtual” tokens per week.  There are three different token “costs” assigned to a book.  Downloads “cost” 4, 2, or 1 token, depending on the value assigned by the publisher.  Unused tokens will roll over for 4 weeks.  After that period, accumulated tokens expire and new ones are issued.

Books can be “borrowed” for 2 weeks and can be renewed once.

Freading works on many devices.  You can download directly to your PC or Mac or transfer content to ebook readers such as the Sony, Kobo, or Nook devices.  (You must register with Adobe Digital Editions before downloading.)  Freading can be used with the KindleFire, but not with other, earlier Kindles.  Freading also has an app for iPhone, iPad, and most Android tablets and phones.

For more information, please call the library at 508-366-3050.

OneClickdigital provides access to audiobooks and some ebooks.  (OneClickdigital classics are always available, i.e. multiple users can download a book simultaneously.)  Download the OneClickdigital app to listen to books on your Apple devices, Android, and Kindle Fire.  You must be a resident of Westborough with a valid library card to use OneClickdigital.
